PAINTED WOOD. Naїve Art of the Ukrainian Village

Painted Wood is dedicated to the floral and geometric compositions that talented village painters used to embellish their lives and homes. This decorative painting was an interesting phenomenon in the history of Ukrainian village culture, observeable on chests, ceiling beams, icons, window sills, bowls—in other words, on the everyday objects of village life in the early 20th century.
