KOSTIANTYN PISKORSKYI

For the first time, Konstiantyn Piskorsky presents works by this extremely interesting, early-20th-century artist from all the museum and private collections and in full color. Piskorsky’s compositions blend Futurism, Symbolism, and Secessionism, all of which prevailed in Ukraine in the 1910s and 20s. The works simultaneously show that Ukraine’s artistic searchings and discoveries developed in parallel to Europe’s. Even today, the schools of art and the names of famous artists of the revolutionary early 20th century, the various directions and styles that intertwined in the powerful artistic context, go unrecognized in the new history of Ukrainian art and likewise unknown in the global context. Kostiantyn Piskorsky’s talant occupies—and will continue to occupy—its due place in this process of renascence.
