HAPTY. The collection from the Vasyl Tarnovsky Chernihiv Historical Museum [pre-pay]

Hapty are cult and secular products embroidered with metallic gold and silver threads. This technique has been known in Ukraine since the 12th century. One of the largest collections of hapty is kept by the Tarnavsky Chernihiv Historical Museum.

Vira Zaichenko has been researching this collection for almost 30 years: the history of the works' origins, the techniques, the researchers, etc. For several more years, Lyudmila Linyuk checked and edited everything. RODOVID publishes this catalog of over 400 ancient works of art from the late 17th to the early 20th centuries, making them accessible to researchers, designers, and artists. Everyone who is interested in ancient Ukrainian heritage finds it a creative inspiration.
