IT TAKES THREE TO TANGO: The true story of a fictitious romance. The Correspondence of Ivan Ostafiychuk and Natalka Husar
This book is a unique artistic story. A novel in letters that could be a movie!
A young, handsome, talented Lviv artist, Ivan Ostafiychuk, decided to flee the USSR — from the KGB surveillance, total censorship, and arrests in Lviv in the 1970s. Ukrainian acquaintances from the diaspora advised him to have a fictitious marriage. They offered Natalka Husar, who was then a student at an art college, as the “bride.” Natalka agreed to the role. And she played her in the letters for over five years. And so much so that the author of the introductory article, cultural anthropologist Natalia Khanenko-Friesen, doubted the fictitiousness of the novel between Ivan and Natalka. The “novel” reads like a real love story. But without the marriage. Ivan was not released to Natalka. And yet they met in Toronto! But how??? Find out from the pages of the book!
