This book of Vira Vovk’s works for the theater includes the plays Skarb tsaria Horokha (The Treasure of Tsar Pea, 1962), Smishnyi sviatyi (The Funny Saint, 1968), Tryptykh (Triptych, 1982), Ikonostas Ukraïny (Iconostasis of Ukraine, 1988, 1991), Vinok troïstyi (Triple Garland, 1988), Kazka pro vershnyka (A Fairy Tale About a Rider, 1992), Zymove diistvo (Winter Performance, 1994), Vesniane diistvo (Spring Performance, 1995), Nastasia Chahrova (2001), Kozak Netiaha (Cossack Netiaha, 2001), and Krylata skrypka (Winged Violin, 2001).

Vira Vovk (Selianska) was born in Boryslav in 1926. She studied Germanics, musicology, and comparative literature in Tübingen, Rio de Janeiro (where she completed a PhD), New York, and Munich. She was a professor of literature at Rio de Janeiro State University. Vovk has won the Ivan Franko Literary Award in Chicago (1957, 1982, 1985, 1989) and in Kyiv (1990) as well as the Blahovist Prize in 2000.
