Yevgeniy Pavlov. Total Photography

Yevgeniy Pavlov is one of the initiators of the famous Kharkiv group Vremia (Time). Among the members, there were J. Rupin, B. Mikhailov, O. Malevany and others. The collective came to share a common declaration, what they called the blow theory – an idea that their photos should “punch the viewer in the face.”

In Total Photography series Pavlov searches for the effects that destruction of the image can bring. The destructive elements that are usually avoided are accidental scratches, dust. Photographer emphasizes them with color bringing the language of painting to photography.
