About the book

The third volume of works by well-known Ukrainian-American writer, Yuriy Tarnawsky, contains a selection of his Ukrainian prose: his first novel, Shliakhy (Ways), Ukrainian translations of fragments from seven English works, Seven Attempts, and his autobiography, Bosonizh dodomu i nazad (Barefoot to Home and Back). The first two works reveal to the reader just how stubbornly and desperately the author has sought throughout his entire creative life adequate language with which to express himself. The last offers his view of himself and the world he grew up in.

Tarnawsky is one of the leading Modernists in Ukrainian literature. He is the author of nineteen collections of poetry, cycles, and poems, seven plays, three novels, and numerous translations and articles on literature. He writes in Ukrainian and English. He lives near New York.
